Ceremonies/Services
Being a marriage celebrant is not just about filing out forms and certificates, but about working with people to create a memorable, happy day, knowing there is someone who is always there for them to create a ceremony that is uniquely for them. To create these memories for people takes more than just legalities; it takes imagination, care, compassion, attention to detail and a personal touch for the special day. No ceremony I create and perform is ever just “another wedding”. Every couple is important to me and every wedding is unique. I am a fully qualified Civil Marriage Celebrant and provide a service of high quality, tailored to your requirements. I also have many contacts within the industry and am happy to assist in other areas for your special day.

I offer a free, no obligation meeting, and when you book my services you will receive a full rehearsal, free wishing well hire, use of a wireless pa system, a presentation certificate, ceremony booklet, use of a register table and chair, and much more.

Weddings

When we think about the union between a man and a woman today it reminds us in a busy modern life there is still a man and a woman who find joy and happiness in giving and caring, in cooperation and compromising, and who are filled with the love and confidence to dedicate their lives to each other.

Your ceremony sets the tone for your wedding day and it is my priority to ensure you have the ceremony you want, whether you choose from my extensive range of detailed ceremonies, mix and match them, or choose your own. To assist with this I have designed a book of 30 or more ceremonies giving you a variety of ideas and options.

A couple I married in December 2004 chose Stradbroke Island, a beautiful setting. They had both been married before and had children from previous marriages so wanted to include their children in the ceremony. Being a beach setting I suggested the sand ceremony where each child holds a small container of sand and the bride and groom hold a container of sand. The bride's children put their sand in her container and the groom's children do the same. The Bride and Groom then put their containers of sand in another container which is kept to remind them of the coming together of their family. A poem chosen by the couple was read by the groom's sister.

Namings

In the sprit of an age-old tradition and in recognition of bringing new life into the world, parents choose to celebrate their child's life by bringing their child before loved ones to be named.

A naming ceremony is a non-religious ceremony to welcome a person into their loved ones' lives. Most commonly children are named shortly after birth or their first birthdays. Some other situations include when a second child comes into a family's life and they decide to name them together. There is no rule as to when a person can be named.

An example of a naming I performed recently was a little boy's first birthday. This family were unsure of how to incorporate the entire family and so I suggested the guests repeated after me the words for Maxx's naming (example below). This worked really well. Also the parents were not keen on public speaking, however they wanted to show sentiment for their son. So I had a candle named and dated which both parents lit together while repeating a few loving words for their son. It was lovely.

EXAMPLE:
It is with pleasure that we name you Maxx …
Our wish is for a long and happy life, to be surrounded with love.
May you bring joy to your parents,
Your godparents, your grandparents, family and friends.
May you contribute to making our world more joyous and peaceful.

Namings are such wonderful occasions and they really are a joy to be a part of. Feel free to contact me for further details of how I can help with a naming ceremony of your choice.

Renewal of Vows

There are no legal requirements, however certificates are often chosen to remember the special day. It is a wonderful time for a couple to remind themselves of the commitment they made to each other on their wedding day, thank each other for the time they have shared, and express their joy and excitement of further time together.

Most common events for renewal of vows:
1 st year Cotton Anniversary (Paper)
2 nd year Leather Anniversary
5 th year Wooden Anniversary
10 th year Tin Anniversary
12 th year Linen and Silk Anniversary
15 th year Crystal Anniversary
20 th year China Anniversary
25 th year Silver Anniversary
30 th year Pearl Anniversary (Ivory)
35 th year Jade or Coral Anniversary
40 th year Ruby Anniversary
45 th year Sapphire Anniversary
50 th year Golden Anniversary
55 th year Emerald Anniversary
60 th year Diamond Anniversary

Some others are when a couple may have separated and reunited, or for some reason a couple's original wedding didn't go to plan. There are many reasons to celebrate the renewal of vows and it is my pleasure to assist in any way I can for your special ceremony.

Commitments

We need a witness to our lives. There are billions of people on this planet… When you choose to spend the rest of your life with that special one you're saying:

‘Your life will not go un-noticed because I will notice it. Your life will not go un-witnessed because I will be your witness.'

Two people very much in love who want to declare to all their family and friends that they wish to spend the rest of their lives together may for some reason choose a commitment ceremony for legal purposes or otherwise, and would like to celebrate their commitment to one another in a similar fashion. I am more than happy to be a part of such a wonderful occasion.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss how we can work together to design your perfect commitment ceremony.
